Mango Pale Ale
We say we usually don’t give our beer Swedish names but when it comes to folköl, it seems like we do. Like with this one: Fruktlampa!
Sometimes it's simple. You make what you want. What you feel you're lacking. What you once had but don't have anymore. We wanted a pale ale that we could sell to and buy in grocery stores here in Sweden. For that to happen, we had to brew a kick-ass, easy-drinking, hoppy little number clocking in at no more than 3,5% vol.
We looked back at what we'd done in that space before. We looked at where we were. And dreamt of where we wanted to be. To get there, we needed light, and Lampa, Swedish for lamp and the beer we brewed, gave us just that. So, we flicked the switch. Then we thought, what could shine even brighter?
We took Lampa and wanted to throw in some more watts, lux, and oomph. And what would do that? More hops? Paler malts? A denser haze? No. Turns out mangoes are what makes a pale ale blindingly bright. Metaphorically speaking.
