Bourbon Barrel-Aged Mango & Orange Zest Cocktail Sour
This beer is fleeting. Almost non-existent. Effervescent. Like a shadow. Peripheral. Yet, so right in front of you, distinct. In a sense demanding. Though delicate. Like a flower, a light note. Like, love.
This beer is one of those beers. A beer that’s well and truly greater than the sum of its parts. So intuitive, yet we’re not quite sure how it happened.
We just took mango sour beer and put it on freshly emptied bourbon barrels together with orange zest, and boom. The caterpillar turned into a butterfly. Metamorphosis.
Tastewise it ticks all the apparent boxes: The puckering sourness, the sweet and almost floral properties of both mango and orange zest. And the vanilla kiss and spirits kick from the bourbon. But there’s more. So much more.
There’s the thing you can’t say, the thing you can’t grasp, the thing with no name. The thing on the tip of your tongue, in the back of your head, you are right on the brink of understanding.
I guess what we’re trying to say is Boba Ozma. Away!
